TV actor Rachana Mistry is set to marry businessman Amit Madaan on January 18 next year. The two, who have been together for five years, got engaged on May 3 in Mumbai. Sharing her excitement, Rachana said, “Our families have been talking about the wedding for a while now, but we were enjoying our courtship period. It has been a magical time.” The actress has already begun preparing for the big day. “After Jagriti, my family felt that before I start shooting for another show we should set a wedding date, and so I want to enjoy this phase. I guess it was written in the stars that Amit was the chosen soulmate, so when we did our roka everything felt perfect.
Talking about embracing each other’s cultures, she shared, “I wore my favourite Gujarati purple bandhani sari for the engagement, and my Punjabi in-laws loved it. An intercaste wedding comes with adjustments, but my in-laws are more than happy to adopt our traditions, and my parents are equally open to theirs.” She also revealed that the couple wanted a separate engagement ceremony. “I wanted a separate function for engagement, so we decided to exchange rings like the Gujarati tradition much before the wedding, unlike most weddings where the sagai happens a day prior.”
Speaking about their relationship, the Jagriti – Ek Nayi Subah actress added, “Amit understands the demands of my job and has been very supportive. I, too, understand his work priorities; he is currently looking after his business in Ahmedabad. We have started planning our wedding and are looking forward to this new phase in our lives.”
